Benefit Garage Sale
Saturday, April 19, 2015 - 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Pacificans for Highway 1 Alternatives (PH1A) hosted a BENEFIT GARAGE SALE to offset legal costs associated with our on-going effort to stop the Caltrans plan to more than double the width of the highway between Vallemar and Rockaway Beach, and to promote alternatives to the widening plan.
Friends and supporters of PH1A continued celebrating EARTH DAY and protection of our coast, endangered species, wetlands and beaches by going to the GARAGE SALE. Many wonderful items were donated for sale from many people in the community as well as from the hosting group.
We had a canopy, flyers, and banners identifying this BENEFIT to save our coast. Proceeds will be donated to stop the Caltrans widening plan and to promote consideration of alternatives.

EcoFest!
Saturday, April 18, 2015 - 11:00 am to 3:00 pm
Hello Pacificans for Highway 1 Alternatives (PH1A) supporters:
We had a booth on Earth Day to raise awareness about the Calera Parkway Project and our efforts to stop it.
EcoFest was on Saturday, April 18 at Linda Mar, in the parking lot south of Taco Bell
PH1A is also participated in a Clean Pacifica activity for Earth Day. We picked a stretch of Highway 1 to 'clean-up'; from the Moose Lodge to the traffic light at Vallemar, but due to scheduling difficulties we did it on Friday the 17th.

Quarry Walk
Sunday, April 12, 2015 - 11:00 am
Pacificans for Highway 1 Alternatives (PH1A) members and supporters:
PH1A and supporters went for a walk in the quarry to look at wetlands and endangered species habitat that will be impacted by Caltrans’ Highway 1 widening project. We met in the Rockaway north parking lot (next to the Lighthouse hotel) on Sunday, April 12 at 11:00 am. We walked in and around the quarry.
One reason for this walk was to familiarize PH1A members and supporters with the wetlands and endangered species habitat that are discussed in the 2 notices of intent to file a federal suit for violations of the Endangered Species Act and the Clean Water Act. Some of us walk in the quarry frequently but we wanted to show that PH1A members visit the area and will again in the future, and that we’re aware of the wetlands and are concerned about the impacts of the Caltrans highway widening project.
